CRUISING: WASTED WATER BODY, BILLION DOLLAR INCOME LOSS.

Image
Cruising to resume soon! Good news? Recently, the cruise ship industry has been the fastest growing segment in the overall tourism worldwide. Cruise industry contributes substantially to local, regional and national economies. The cruise lines also boost global economy supporting around 940 thousand jobs and paying around $40 billion in wages worldwide. In 2019, the cruise industry generated a total of $55.5 billion in economic activity in the United States, a 5.3% increase from 2018. Moreover, growth in economic activity was accompanied by an increase in industry-supported jobs. For Nigerian tourism and economy , resumption of cruise simply means more skew in the 'inbalance' of trade. We have the Atlantic ocean surrounding us, but no cruise ship ever comes here, and there is a West African Cruise of some sort. The Carribean economies revolve around cruising and tourism- every...

NIGERIAN TOURISM: ADMINISTERING FUND TRANSFUSION

Image
NIGERIAN TOURISM:   ADMINISTERING  FUND TRANSFUSION  By Hafees Keshinro For the Nigerian local tourism scene, it has been said over again that Covid 19 is a huge blessing. Some Nigerian destinations suddenly gain tractions, and became a fad. We had a jamboree, and it was a great time for local tourism. Our eyes suddenly became opened to unbelievable places within, and we all wowed, and accepted that our tourism is not as bad as we think. Not many of them are world class standard, but we agreed we can derive great experience, and certainly can do some destinations as they are. It was a mixed emotion to see the Nigerian travelling population trapped within, the urge for travel or escapism was palpitating, and they are left with no choice but to go local. Long and short, our ‘abroad people’ enjoyed local tourism and even gave some praises. Indeed, everyone after the lock down needed a tourism therapy, and there was a rush. For the first time our resorts were f...

SUNGBO EREDO (QUEEN SHEBA TOMB)

Image
SUNGBO EREDO (QUEEN SHEBA TOMB) Oke Eri, the destination of the Queen Sheba Tomb, or Bilikisu Sungbo as popularly called by the locals is located in a village close to Ijebu Ode, but it is a rugged, out of the road, hidden path! Getting there was not easy but it was worth the trouble. Bad roads, tiring travel time as the location is deep off the express, Google map got us lost plenty times Lolz, but we got there eventually. No hype, amazing place, people come from all over the world for prayers, research, and tourism- great tourism potential but needs attention Call it mystical if you like, as there is an eering quietness around where she was believed to be buried. No grass grows around the perimeter of it and the white sands will never leave any dirt on your clothes. The tomb or the demarcation in itself is long and large, we were told they were much more bigger than us, giants! There are different tales surrounding this ‘beautiful holy woman’ but all linked to King Solomo...

EXPERT TRICKS TO BUDGET TRAVEL FOR NIGERIANS

Image
You do not need to be a millionaire to enjoy travelling or to go on a vacation. There are many ways to be part of the travelling population, whatever your status is. You actually need to purge some believes and blocks out of your system: that vacation is for the rich or middle class only, it is not a necessity or its almost a waste of money, it is expensive, it must be Paris, Milan, or other popular sounding destination, it must be luxurious, it deeps huge hole in your finances, I won die if I don’t do vacation, and loads of other thoughts that are inhibitive. Never forget this popular saying: work hard, play harder! This is a bit of a long read, but I promise it won’t be boring! You also need to agree first that vacation is for your own good- better health, clear head, rejuvenation, education, meeting new people and networking (great for business), better quality job on return, bonding for couples, family and friends, re unions for old school boys and girls. The list is endless. On a ...

TRAVEL OR DIE?

Image
In my line of business , i have spoken to many couples and families and CEos in Nigeria about using travel for relaxation , improving their health , get better in their relationship , get their team to perform better, and most importantly elongate their lifespan . Many of the replies i get include: i have not finished my house , we have spent so much on the wedding , i am sending my children to school, the company is not doing too well, and the most amusing one- i don chop belleful? Most Nigerians forget that vacations and travel should not necessarily be Europe or America or other so called holiday spots advertised in luxury magazines and shown with all glamour on CNN. They could be Benin republic, Togo, Gambia and what of our own Yankari and Obudu and i can tell you from experience that with these places you don't have to spend heaven and earth I have done this for new couples, and group of friends (single girls hanging out for weekend or long public holidays ) ...
