SUNGBO EREDO (QUEEN SHEBA TOMB)

SUNGBO EREDO (QUEEN SHEBA TOMB)

Oke Eri, the destination of the Queen Sheba Tomb, or Bilikisu Sungbo as popularly called by the locals is located in a village close to Ijebu Ode, but it is a rugged, out of the road, hidden path! Getting there was not easy but it was worth the trouble.

Bad roads, tiring travel time as the location is deep off the express, Google map got us lost plenty times Lolz, but we got there eventually.
No hype, amazing place, people come from all over the world for prayers, research, and tourism- great tourism potential but needs attention

Call it mystical if you like, as there is an eering quietness around where she was believed to be buried. No grass grows around the perimeter of it and the white sands will never leave any dirt on your clothes. The tomb or the demarcation in itself is long and large, we were told they were much more bigger than us, giants!

There are different tales surrounding this ‘beautiful holy woman’ but all linked to King Solomon, and how he finally made her his wife. Tale also has it that till today, she is exactly the way she was buried, according to underground picture technology.

Shoes off when you are entering the gate, women not allowed in too.

People come down from far and near to pray in this ‘little Mecca’ but not anymore  it is a shadow of itself as most of the facilities are beyond redemption, the Eredo remains an important tourist attraction.
